Birth Defect Research for Children has been collecting data and working on the Agent Orange birth defect issue since 1986. Since that time spina bifida has been service connected in the children of male Vietnam veterans and 17 different birth defects have been service connected in the children of female veterans. Our data and other research, however, indicate that many, many other conditions could and should be added to the list for service connection.
We have presented data on Agent Orange and birth defects collected through our National Birth Defect Registry to the National Academy of Science, the EPA Subcommittee on Endocrine Disruptors, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and to the house and senate subcommittees on veterans' affairs as well as the VA. Yet, no other conditions have been added to the current list.
I believe that those in the best position to advocate for the children of Vietnam veterans are "the children of Vietnam veterans". You are young enough and have the energy and motivation to make your voices heard. How can I get involved , I know many people that I have connected with via internet and we have same issues after parents served in nam. Endocrine as well as birth defects. I have extra bones in spine , knees and auto immune disease , thyroid disease as well as a sibling with no history in family I have been convinced since diagnosed based on how the effects would make a weaker generation, Please help to connect me with other that are searching for voices so we are heard ! and have the numbers to not be ignored any longer!
I was recently diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis. It is a "hereditary" disease, but no one in my family has been diagnosed with it. My father, who served in Vietnam was recently diagnosed with Agent Orange. I'm wondering if what I have has anything to do with what he was subjected too. This is my first attempt to connect these two things. If you can help me and/or if I can help get the word out, please let me know what I can do. I'm 32 and having a lot of difficulties with this. Well, it was a good morning. I received my first e-mail regarding my earlier post (I thought no one out there was reading). As unfortunate as this is, I'm extremely excited to read that at least one person out there is fighting for the VA to realize that UC is a problem and could stem from Agent Orange.
I typically am not a "put yourself out there" kind of person, but I'm going to do that on this issue.
Bill, if you are out there and could let me know who to talk to, where to go to get the message heard I'd love to know. I'm sorry for your families misfortune and too, wish you the best in getting answers and getting others to listen to you. One last question for you, Bill- Was your daughter ever tested for Agent Orange? (Do they even test offspring?) I'm new to this but want to get as much information as possible. Thank you again, Bill.

Greetings my fellow brothers in humanity. I was born in 1973. My 18 year old father serviced the government of USA in veitnam(he was injured and flown out)also my moms first husband died in vietnam very hard on families. Trauma from those experiences has took its toll on many of us til now. I myself suffer scoliosis, the first one in my family that we know of to have this problem(in pain as I type). I also am to many things dermatoligists have tested me with. My body proportion is wrong with one leg being slightly longer and also one calf having more inches... my knees ache at times and also loose balance when walking... I have had noticible pain often in back since age 14 I am now 37. I cry often from lack of USA helping me and them being so cruel many times the lack of them helping me for years and still lack of proper care. I tryed getting help since age 14 was only able to get a few food stamps after much hassle.. I tried applying for SSI they never helped me until past age 30. I tried hard to concentrate and I took many jobs often loosing jobs from being too tired in pain or upset. I cant explain how many horrible emotional things also I have faced as a young girl and woman since being left to fend for myself in USA for about 20 years even though I told them I am weak in pain and I cant always concentrate well because of sadness etc. My father apoligized for beating us so often as kids after he returned from war veitnam... but the damage remains. My father never managed things al to well often he tried to make a joke and drink beer to deal with things. So I had an erratic angry father beat me till age 11 a mother with many problems who was angry and a lousy government not caring for disabled children from the poison they threw out to kill trees on our USA citizins. My back finally got x-rayed and yes I have scoliosis and now also pain in other places.. in 2002 I was detained for being a muslim(yes I found religion perfect, it explained how much satan is real, especially USA claiming there so good yet they let many suffer that need help. I am now away from my family and place I grew up in after 2002 they tried harming me for being a muslim(the religion that explains in end of times almost all leaders will be satans friend)... I had no criminal history.. I worked paying taxes since age 14 and many times. SO in pain and now they detain me for being muslim in 2002(didnt allow a phone call... throw me around on metal bed, dont feed me after I said no meat, bruising me chain my hands behind my back on cement floor in january freezing no blanket not even asked if I need toiletfor at least a day >>it was bad finally I got out that city... when I got out in 2002 I left that place I took one small bag to a bus to colorado to see my grandma in old folks home... then finally... eventually I got to other city they eventually assisted me in my age of thirties to get social security(they gave lowest amount, mind you I worked since age 14).
I still dont get enough to pay rent food energy travel medical etc. It has been difficult for me and I love the USA to do better... I now have 2 neices one has problem with the tubes growing to her kidney properly and my sister is complainig of strange things for herself. AS FAR AS ISLAM I DONT LIKE MANY MUSLIMS MOST MUSLIMS FOLLOW WRONG ISLAM< however I found right/correct sect of ISLAM.. yes in ISLAM 73 sects and only one is correct teh rest to hell. Suffer so much all because USA wont prioritize helping those from veitnam fathers to get free medical and help if they need it due to poison they had no choice to deal with while serving as soldiers. I wish so much to sue the USA the whole USA for each day since the time my father first beat me. They didnt do enough as a community as the USA to help our fathers after war relax instead they poison there bodies and monds and then leave them to still have to work under stress without help and decontaminating metal from there bodies or something!!!! but for an angry father to have children also who are disabled and no help for them from governmentUSA failed as all past nations have... and they should try to stop failing... one stop evil leaders in pakistan in iraq in saudi in bahrain etc. second while stopping evil leaders instead of paying those countries money give me the trillion I want to sue them for I will personnally start orphanges hospitals for those in need world wide since USA is too busy with politics instead of the USA citizen.YES VEITNAM DID HARM MANY IN MANY WAYS BESIDES TEH SOLDIERS INNOCENT BABIES BEING BORN WITH handicapps.. I have seen in my family 11 members effected see my other post on my spine deformities gyn cysts ect... my daughters were both premature one 3lbs 5 oz she lived thank god but immune problems all her life now a thyroid condition, we have had two third and fourth generation babies failure to thrive and immune problems, leukemia (brother) and sever birth defects six month old baby died after six months of life christen Rene cook 1982 she had no pelvis region no anus or urea holes. we have some kids with ADHD diabetics so far had just been the service men in the family, with genetic testing today please ask your doctors to test your genetics each of my family had large kids mothers mom had 11 and fathers mother had 14 no birth defects until agent orange what people fail to realize is they sprayed the USA to check VA.gov for locations the USA used the stuff since 1948-1982 even after they knew what it did, my father was exposed in Cambodia classified mission and in 1948 in FT KNOX KY oh by the way they trained everyone in these locations across the USA port Rico Guam and HI KY TN NC GA FL CA the list goes on I am getting my genetics tested 11 members of my family if I cant get a doc to state my spine is spina bifida I cant get my claim paid even with my CT Scans this is just so wrong. We need a march on the white house.

I am not very familiar with this kind of thing. I guess you would say I married into it. My husband has had issues with his kidneys and has only one dues to complications. I had a child in 2008 born with Anorectal Malformation. I have looked for information as to what could have caused this with my daughter and it has led no where, until her grandfather a vet told me I should look into this as a possible cause. Any help would be much appreciated, we have no idea if this Agent Orange poison can be passed through the generations.
My father served in Vietnam. He was exposed to Agent Orange, and was even paid from the class action lawsuit. I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease in 1999. It is a thyroid condition. The effects of this disease are getting worse as I get older. My memory is gone. My concentration is not even close to what it once was. The effects are disabling. It makes me sick that the V.A. will not add thyroid disorders, and other defects to the list. Something needs to be done.

I have more illness than any 41yr old should have I have diabetes ulcerative colites, graves(thyroid) disease enlarged liver hepatitis(auto immune) fibromylgia, gall bladder disease polycyctic ovarian disease fibroid tumers on female organs multiple cysts and tumers removed. severe digestive disorder. I have had over 12 major surgeries. also multiple kidney stones and rare kidney infections gastioparese. and anxiety problems I have been in and out of the hospital since I was born.I was concieved after my fathers 1st tour and was born just before his second tour. My sister has many of the same problem plus heart problems and bipolar disorder as well. I have been told by MD's with all the immune disorders They believe the underlying cause is his exposure to agent orange. I have had to suffer my whole life its not fair! Something needs to be done! I will do what ever I need to to be heard!I work everyday trying to help others, I need help and don't know how are were to get it.
And I believe it has passed on to my children. My daughter is bi polar adhd she gets sores that break out all over her body and dr's have no idea what it is shes had gall bladder disease, severe kidney trouble severe female problems gastrointestional disorders scoleosis and her child (my first grand child) was still born.America helps out foreign countries, they need to help their own!We didn't ask for this we never had a choice!
how do u find out about getting tested 4 agent orange
rhendy- if you are a veteran you can be tested by your doctor and or the local VA hospital. My father served in 68 and was only diagnosed with Agent Orange within the past year. Hope this helps.
